Moscow Food Co-op Grand Opening Includes Music, Samples, Prizes

 

            Free samples, live music, and door prizes will be available at the grand opening celebration of the Moscow Food Co-op on Saturday, November 12, from 11am to 3pm, at the new location at Fifth and Washington Streets in downtown Moscow.

            Samples of food, wine and wellness products from a dozen local vendors will be provided.  The co-op's deli, bakery and meat departments will also give away product samples.

            The Moscow band Potatohead will play at the co-op deli from noon until 2pm as part of the celebration.  In addition, a collection of artworks created by co-op employees will be exhibited in the deli.

As part of the grand opening, the co-op is again sponsoring a tile-painting opportunity. The tiles, which are six inches square, will become part of a mural in the deli at the new co-op store.  The tiles created at earlier co-op tile-painting events have been placed on a mural near the produce section at the new store. The Co-op invites everyone, for a $15 donation, to paint a tile with their own design for the new mural.  

The tile-painting will occur from 10am until 2pm on Saturday, November 12, at the Winter Art Market held at the 1912 Building.

            The co-op moved to the new location, the former Garts sporting goods store at 121 East Fifth Street, on October 15.  That building began as a Safeway in 1960.  The building, with 15,000 square feet, is twice the size of the Co-op's former location on Third Street.
