  Subject: [Vision2020] 1st Annual Kid's Safety Fair

A few days ago Wayne Fox posted an email that included an article regarding the terrible situation in Coeur d’Alene with the three murders and two missing children. I thank Wayne for the reminder and continue to have high hopes that the kids will be found safe and healthy.

The only positive I can draw from this event up north is that it has focused attention locally on the importance of doing everything possible to safeguard our kids. With that in mind, I’m proud to be one of the local businesses stepping up to assist families with a variety of safely related issues.

I’m pleased to announce the 1st Annual Kids Safety Fair. It will take place Saturday June 4th from 9 A.M. to 2 P.M. at the Eastside Marketplace. All Latah County parents should have received a flyer that was distributed through the schools earlier this week.

At this event, kids and their parents can expect to receive:

Free M.I.L.K.(Managing Information on Lost Kids) software

Free Child Digital I.D.(first step in the Amber Alert process)

  Free Bike Helmets(first 100 kids)

  Free Bike Safety Checks

  Free Bike Rodeo Safety Training

Free Car Seat Safety check(from 10:00AM to 2:00PM)

Free New Parent Safety Kit and Fingerprint Kit for all children

Drawings for smoke alarms, home and auto fire extinguishers, CO2 detectors & first aid kits

The participating businesses, along with our local law enforcement partners, include:

Kimberling Insurance Agency (formerly Newsome & Kimberling Insurance)

  Staples of Moscow

  Moscow Police Department

  Latah County Sheriff’s Office

  Paradise Creek Bikes

  Eastside Marketplace

  Gritman Medical Center

  North Idaho Health District Office

  Moscow Kiwanis

  University Inn- Best Western

Anyone desiring additional information is welcome to contact me or Jennifer McFarland, Public Information Officer for the Sheriff’s Office. As you may know, Jennifer is a fairly regular contributor to V2020. She can be reached at 882-2216 or jmcfarland at latah.id.us.

Please help us spread the word about this important event.

  Jon Kimberling
