[Vision2020] the blogstalker

Furthermore, when you make statements on a publicly available and archived
Listserv, those statements are free for the reading and quoting (fair use).

The difference is between public and private statements -- as Ted notes.

Bottom line: everything you write on Vision2020 is free for the world to
read and marvel at.

And it is free for bloggers to quote and poke holes in.

best,
Dale

Julie et. al.

Actually, there are cases where a private e-mail meant to be private and
sent to one and only one e-mail address could be a basis for legal action if
someone made that e-mail public in a manner that did damage to the author's
reputation and/or livelihood and/or if the exploiter of the e-mail was
making profit off the "private" communication.

Thus if I wrote my wife (I'm not married, this is just an example) a steamy
long e-mail that was only sent to and meant for her, but somehow ended up as
dialog in a movie love scene, and there was documentation that dialog was
lifted word for word from this private e-mail to my wife (I'm trying to
create extreme circumstances that are very actionable), which my boss found
out about, thus firing me for writing "pornography," which was not my
intention, the courts might consider this an improper use of a private
communication, and award damages, both for damage to reputation and
livelihood and wrongfully gained profit from someone else's written
statements taken without permission or compensation.

As Keely pointed out, the more you are a figure in the public arena the less
you are protected from use of your statements by someone else for whatever
purpose...

Thank you to all who have helped me figure out what is going on behind this
"blogstalking." As a relatively newcomer to this whole vision2020 system,
this was something I wasn't aware of. But now the light has been shed on
the subject, and I appreciate all those who helped to do that. You will
notice that I am now claiming rights on everything that I write. As it is
included in my email signature, I'll be protecting myself against my
friends, or worse, MY MOTHER, from stealing any of my words either. Oh
wait...they are good people.
So my words were cut and pasted into someone else's website. I'm not the
only one. And at least it's not as bad as being emailed by some unemployed
ex-senator and told I'm a cruel and whiny b****. Now that's a real
highlight of my day. Since nothing anyone emails is protected, what's
stoppin' me from including that?!
