[Vision2020] Anti smoking petition

Mr. Carscallen,

First, I was making a funny about the fast food
restaurants. Sorry I was not clearer. I think smoke
zones and happy meals are bad combos.

"Maybe they work there? Do people not have a right to
work in a smoke-free environment?"

However, no, I do not think that employees have the
right to "smoke-free" work places if that is part of
the job and the employer cannot pay them if they do
not have customers. Do doctors have the right to be in
AIDS free work spaces when doing surgery? Do Police
have the right to be in a criminal free environment?
Do Firemen have the right to be in fire free areas? Do
teachers have the right not to be around children? Do
window cleaners have the right to keep both feet on
the ground? No, that is their job. They are all
environmental hazards with the job they choose. You do
not have the right to dictate the conditions of your
job.

It is not even their right to have that job. They read
the job description, if they want the job, they take
it, if not, they do not. End of story. Nobody is
forcing you to work in a smoke filled environment.
Common sense says, if you do not like the environment
of a bar, do not take a job in a bar. It is as dumb as
these people that join the army and then say, "It is
against my religion to fight in war". Well dumb ass,
what do you think an army does???

"As far as the evil of the smokes and the companies
that sell them, they never forced you to suck on the
puff-buddies, did they?"

Yes, you are correct that the cigarette companies do
not force people to smoke. But they do market to
children and minors and they put an addictive
substance in their product causing an irresistible
physical craving for it.

"Takin' responsibility for my own actions,"

Although I got hooked on cigarettes as a minor, I did
quit as an adult using expensive drugs and a good deal
of discipline to break that physical desire for a
nasty product.

I am much more accepting of people that get hooked to
cigarettes as minors as opposed to grown up adults
trying to peddle a deadly addictive product to minors.

But then again, we all have different values do we
not.

Take Care,

Donovan J Arnold
