Kempthorne bounces two checks worth $111

Gov. Dirk Kempthorne has been a little short of cash lately. The Republican has bounced two checks totaling $111 since October. 

Both were made out to his hairdresser, Chic Rementeria, owner of Chic's Place in Boise. 

Kempthorne pleaded ignorance, saying he and his wife Patricia just haven't discussed money matters lately. 

He says two recent back surgeries also have drained his finances. 

Now, he's pledged to take a little more interest in balancing his checkbook. 

Kempthorne, whose pay package totals about $150,000 annually, says he has no hard feelings because word of the bounced checks aired publicly. 

He says Rementeria's a friend and he'll keep going back.
