Not only are those who wish to keep homosexuals from marrying violating the
14th Ammendment guaranteeing equal protection under the law (that means any
law must apply to every citizen) these same people also are violating the
1st Ammendment.
Ever notice that it is mostly religious people who don't want homosexuals to
marry? Well, that's because that is their RELIGIOUS belief! This is the
main arguement I've heard, that the bible condemns homosexuals thus our
country should, too.
Well, that may be the case, but guess what the 1st Ammendment says?
"Congress shall pass no law respecting the establishment of religion."
These religious fanatics are trying to pass a religious law. Clearly.
George W. Bush is commiting treason by suggesting Congress pass a law
restricting the Constitutional rights of other Americans.
That is purely unAmerican and these people should be ashamed not only for
denying another human their right to commit their lives to another person
they love, but also for wanting to trash the 1st Ammendment and have a
theocratic form of government.
Not in my America.
If the goverment must legally acknowledge marriage at all, they must
acknowledge that anybody can enjoy that right. Otherwise, marriage should
remain a private affair that is the domain of the church. All governement
benefits for married people should end.
Government has no right to meddle in the private love affairs of its
citizens anyways.
Garrett Clevenger, a heterosexual who will defend homosexuals right to marry
another person they love.
