Ed Jones says, "And no one is threatening anyone with any aspect of
their sexual orientation. Not on this list, and not at WSU. That is a
fallacy that some are too eager to buy into." Perhaps Mr. Jones missed
the memo about some rather nasty graffitti at WSU not long ago.
Perhaps Mr. Jones is also unaware that minority groups have a need to
support one another. Reverse-discrimination (discrimination against
the oppressors: whites, heterosexuals, males, etc) is a myth. It is a
bigoted myth, used often to excuse oneself when making other bigoted
comments. People of Minority status, be that sexual, racial, or
otherwise, need to support one another because as the oppressed, they
have to fight harder, and face very different obstacles in life than
those in the majority. Perhaps if WSU has so much debt, it will be
forced to cut funding somewhere. But cutting funding for minority
groups isn't the way to go.
