Yes, I would hire an attorney who did not wear a formal suit.  

If they graduated top of their class at Harvard Law School, I would hire them in a clown suit, maybe especially in a clown suit, if they were that smart and hard working, yet had enough of a sense of humor not to take themselves too seriously.

Perhaps though in court I would not want an attorney representing me in a clown suit, unless the judge, opposing counsel and jury also were in clown suits.

I know how unfair and superficial the world is.  But does that mean we must not argue against it?
