_____
The Latah County Extension Office is offering a free clinic to test pressure
canner gauges. Bring the canner lid (with gauge attached) to the Moscow
Farmers Market on Saturday morning, July 9, 2005. (Due to construction and
space constraints, we will be located on Main Street, in front of New St.
Andrews College/Zumes'.)
Pressure canners with a dial gauge should be tested yearly for accuracy.
Pressure canning is the only recommended method for canning meat, poultry,
seafood, and vegetables. Using boiling water canners for these low-acid
foods poses a real risk of botulism poisoning. With the availability of the
season's bounty, be sure to use safe food preservation recommendations.
ALSO:
Latah County Master Gardeners (under the direction of the Latah County
Extension Office) are offering a "Xeriscape" demonstration at the Farmers
Market on Saturday morning, July 9, 2005, providing information on plants
that thrive locally with less water. City of Moscow Water Department staff
will also be present, providing water conservation devices and information
at no charge.
Please bring you questions, receive information, and take away great ideas.
Look for us, located on Main Street, in front of New St. Andrews
College/Zumes'.
Having plant or tree problems? Bring a sample of the affected plant to the
Master Gardener's "plant clinic" on Tuesday mornings at the Latah County
Extension Office, located in Room 208 of the Latah County Courthouse from
9:00 to noon. They will research and advise you on yard and garden
questions, including insects, plant diseases, etc.
