Visionaries:

Saundra Lund wrote yesterday to notify those interested in attending about
the property tax exemption hearings on Monday at the Latah County Building,
Commissioners Room 2B. This meeting room is accessible from the first floor
elevator for those with mobility concerns. (Enter through the east parking lot
door through the double doors, turn right and the elevator is on the left
hand side.)
As Saundra mentioned, the same entities whose property tax exemptions were
revoked in the 2004 hearings, i.e., Anselm House, a Christ Church owned office
building, and New Saint Andrews College, are applying for a property tax
exemption for the 2005-2006 tax year.
We look forward to revisiting those issues with the Board of Equalization in
addition to protesting the tax exemptions allowed Logos School and the NuArt
theatre.
The hearings begin at 2:00 and will last the rest of the afternoon. (Or, as
some salty folks might say, "Till the last dog is hung.")
If any of you have a spare hour or two, you might wish to stop by. It's a
great way to see your tax dollars at work, and it is to be hoped, your tax
burden lightened.

Rose Huskey

"Find out just what people will submit to, and you have found out the exact
amount of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them; and these
will continue until they are resisted with either words or blows, or both. The
limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress."
Frederick Douglass
