Not that Kai is the be-all end-all of the debate, but it seems to me he
summed up the AMA's position.
I see a lot of "may"s and "could be"s in there . . .
Another thing, quoting directly:
"In addition to effects attributable to THC, the chronic effects of
marijuana smoke are of perhaps greater concern than marijuana's acute
safety profile. Like tobacco, chronic marijuana smoking is associated
with lung damage, increased symptoms of chronic bronchitis, and possibly
increased risk of lung cancer."
I tend to agree with this from the report's conclusion:
"The AMA calls for further adequate and well-controlled studies of
marijuana and related cannabinoids in patients who have serious
conditions for which preclinical, anecdotal, or controlled evidence
suggests possible efficacy and the application of such results to the
understanding and treatment of disease"
Of course it says other stuff, but I'm pretty sure everyone else can
read it just as easily as me.
