A few observations somewhat related to the current controversy:
A person of honest intellect knows that there is no monopoly on truth.
(Biblical scholars, indeed experts in any body of knowledge, can and
will disagree, now and forever)
Any human being, who claims to know the one and only truth is either
mentally challenged, a self delusional sycophant, oblivious, or a charlatan.
(Men are not God. Men are flawed. It is most unwise to put more faith in
a man or men, than God)
The definition of an intolerant person is once who claims monopoly on
the truth.
(An "intolerista" is one who claims monopoly on the truth--Doug Wilson
defines himself)
A thinking man can approximate the truth to the extent that it is possible.
(Given the preponderance of facts, honestly debated and logically
synthesized, a best approximation of the truth can be formulated.)
If a group of people want to believe that god resides in the being of
Christ Church and the person of Doug Wilson, that is of no significance
to anyone but themselves.
(Until that belief conflicts with unalienable rights of others in
society. Indications of dominionism by any group is a danger signal for
society. Proclamations claiming whole groups of people evil are danger
signals to society.)
By asking for and receiving non-profit status, Christ Church, New St.
Andrews, Logos and any other business ventures of Doug Wilson conflict
with society if that status is undeserved, especially if non-profit
status is based on falsehood and misrepresentation. (One of the concerns
of the Idaho Association of Commissioners are tax exemptions for
supposed charitable organizations causing higher burdens for tax payers)
There is a difference between the law of the land and the law of the
church.
(According to Dale Courtney, misdeeds have been adjudicated--perhaps
within the church but not yet within the law of the land.)
By Dale Courtney, there must be 2-3 witnesses, according to the bible,
in order for a church to consider addressing misdeeds.
(Is that thought underlying the former culture of child abuse in the
Roman Catholic Church? )
One final observation: The law is what separates us from the monkeys. I
appreciate those in society who give of themselves to make sure that
laws are fair and fairly applied, especially fairly applied to those
who hold the law in contempt. We owe those selfless people great thanks.
