Tours Offered for New Moscow Food Co-op 

 

Everyone is invited to see the changes completed and planned for the Moscow Food Co-op at the community viewing planned for Saturday, June 25, from 10am until noon at the Co-op's new location.  Co-op General Manager Kenna Eaton will lead the free tours, show the floor plans for the new store, and provide refreshments for visitors.

The tours will meet at the front doors of the new location, the former Safeway grocery store at Fifth and Washington streets in Moscow that most recently housed the Gart's sporting goods business.  Since the store is now being remodeled, visitors, for their safety, will stay in a section of the store by the front doors.

            In its present location, the Co-op has become an anchor store for downtown, bringing people to downtown Moscow and keeping the retail area vibrant and alive.  A recent Latah Economic Development Council survey that found that year-round the Co-op is the number-one reason shoppers visit downtown Moscow. 

            The Co-op has also built a network of local organic growers who provide fresh produce and other products, sells quality deli and bakery foods made on-site, and has an experienced staff, knowledgeable about natural foods.
