[Vision2020] Proxmire passing

I agree -- if he continues as he is, Obama in '12 sounds great. I'm
lukewarm on Pelosi, and I couldn't support Hillary Clinton. Not because I
think she's bad, but because she's unelectable.

I like Evan Bayh, Harold Ford, Christie Todd Whitman, and I think Melinda
Gates -- married to that guy Bill -- would be an outstanding politician.
Both Gateses have certainly impressed me with their approach to public
service.

And yeah, I like John Kerry. Very much.

There was an Ohio congressman in the 90s named Tony Hall who impressed me a
great deal. Any idea where he is now?

Senator BARAK OBAMA of Illinois above all others, Keely.

The Democratic Party has NO FDR's on the horizon.

As much as I would love to see a woman on the ticket, right now neither
Condi Rice nor Hillary Clinton has my vote. The best woman available right
now would have to be Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi of California's 8th
District, but I don't see her tossing her hat into the ring any time soon.

The best person available in the Republican Party, by my judgement, is
McCain. I would have voted for McCain if he ran against Gore in 2000.

My fantasy ticket would be Obama/Pelosi, but Obama is too new and Pelosi
simply will not run.

Thoughts?

(apologies if you've already gotten this from me . . . )

Visionaires,

Just a word or two to note the death of Wisconsin Senator William Proxmire,
who took Joe McCarthy's seat, originated the "Golden Fleece Awards," and
injected a lot of passion, humanitarianism and common sense into the Senate
during his time. He was a hero in my house growing up.

We've lost some great people lately and it leaves me wondering who my fellow

Visionaires see as the "next generation" of inspiring, exciting and
principled political, social and cultural leaders. I know this is bound to
be contentious, but let's keep it civil.
