The high school won't be there much longer. This is a project that has been needed for a long time. Once again we shouldn't have let it go so long it is only going to cost more. Face facts. Moscow is going to grow and getting out here the fastest, shortest way will save gas and ragged nerves.

The City of Moscow seems intent on extending Third Street over Paradise Creek between Blaine and MountainView. The result of that bridge construction will be more cars, driving faster, coming from places like Pullman, all the way up Third to MountainView.

While I can understand how that bridge will make traffic flow better through town, I hate to see increases in both the number of cars and their speed by the high school, East City Park, and Lena Whitmore Elementary School. Even worse is the idea of widening Third, trashing the trees along that route, and sending more traffic through the Blaine Manor apartments and endangering all the kids who live and play there.

How about this compromise? Build a bridge to connect Third Street but make it wide enough for bikes and foot traffic only. That would demonstrate that Moscow is serious about non-motorized access and provide a great link between downtown and the eastern part of Moscow.
