There is a very big difference between a passive and unwilling civilian 
population and a society organized around a principle when it comes to 
defining collective 'guilt'.  If a society willingly supports the objectives 
of their government to destroy and murder people's of other races and 
religions and believes that such activity is justified because they are of a 
master race, are they passive or acting as facilitators of the process of 
genocide by their nation state?

In a society based on total loyalty to an idea of racial superiority and in 
which the collective has organized for 'total war', are there innocents?

I can state with some certainty that in the Thai Burmese border region, the 
actions of the Japanese were indeed as brutal as anything that happened in 
China.  Whole Thai villages were wiped out and their populations feed into 
the maw of the construction of the Death Railroad.  There are hundreds of 
thousands of graves alopng that route, Sunil, because the Japanese 
collectively thought of any but their own race as inferiors and not quite 
really human.

Read about the treatment of Koreans in Japan during the pre-War and War 
years, the beatings and cruelty they suffered at the hands of the Japanese 
master race.

I ask you what I asked Tim, if it had been Germany that was bombed with an 
Atom Bomb, would you have been so opposed?
