[Vision2020] Terror Attacks Not Reduced By Bush's War On Terror

Today's (Wed. April 27) Spokesman Review has a news article about the possible "censoring" of reporting the extent of global terror attacks, both in Iraq and elsewhere, by operatives in the Shrub administration. Bush's lapdog Condi Rice was apparently complicit in this "censorship." Some think the image of the Bush administration winning the war on terror was a political motivation to block the facts from coming out: in fact the war on terror is not being won. In fact terror attacks in Iraq, and around the world, remain high, and the US backed Iraq "government" is not stopping the insurgency after the so called "elections" that were supposed to stabilize the country and marginalize the insurgency.

Have you noticed how reports of the “Iraqi War” no longer refer to terrorists or even insurgents. The terms we hear now are “Suunis” and “Shiites”. The reasoning for this is simple. What started out as a liberation became an invasion which is now becoming a civil war.

We liberated the Iraqi people from Sadam Hussein. As months became years our presence was looked upon as an invasion. And now the Iraqi Prime Minister is limiting the representation of the Shiites within the Iraqi parliament.

What started as the grand coalition against Sadam Hussein has degenerated into Shiites versus Suunis. That, ladies and gentlemen, is a civil war. And we are right in the middle of it as we build more and more US military “transition” facilities. I am afraid that the only transition our troops may experience (and I pray that I am wrong) is from sleeping bags to body bags.

But then, what else would you expect from a president who couldn’t even show up for weekend meetings of his national guard unit during Vietnam, a president who is strongly supporting a UN ambassador candidate who publicly stated his hate for the UN, and a president who strongly supports the most corrupt Speaker of the House in our nation’s history.

Remember a couple years ago when several of us on this listserve suggested that this is what is likely to happen. Well . . . it did.

Take care, Moscow.

Does anyone else see a consistency problem with the following:

Myers: Insurgency same as year ago

The insurgency in Iraq is "about where it was a year ago," in terms of attacks, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff said but he said American and Iraqi troops are gaining ground in the two-year-old conflict.
