FARMERS' MARKET SET TO OPEN
   

  The Moscow Farmers' Market will open its 28th season on Saturday, May 7, 2005.  The market is located in the Jackson Street public parking lot off Friendship Square in the downtown Moscow.  It is held each Saturday from 8 AM - Noon through the end of October.  

   

  Due to the renovation of Friendship Square this summer some adjustments have been made to the market layout.  The construction staging area will be in Bay 1 next to the Moscow Hotel.  Vendors traditionally found in that area will be shifted over to Bay 4.  Construction is scheduled to begin in mid-May with a proposed finish date of August 1.  Market management and the vendors would like to ask for the public's support and indulgence as this project takes place.

   

  Fifty-four vendors are participating in the market this season.  Shoppers can expect to find early garden greens as well as fresh flowers and bedding plants.  A variety of arts and crafts vendors will also be displaying and selling their wares.  Fresh coffee, baked goods, lunch and snack foods will also be available for breakfast skippers and for take-home.

   

  The Sesitshaya Marimba Ensemble and the Zimbabwe Marimba Band will kick off the market's concert series from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m.  Music will be located on the sidewalk on Main Street in front of Zumes' Bakery during construction.  Non-profits who distribute information about their services and organizations are also being asked to relocate to Main Street.
