Donvan,
Using the CPIs, in 1964 energy costs were about 10% lower than YTD 2005.
In the late 1970s, energy costs were 30-40% highed than present costs.
As for the price of gas - that is a true crap shoot. We presently have
high gas inventories for this time of year (indicating that gas might
not go a lot higher). However, if demand spikes upward, the US
refineries will not be able to match demand and prices will go through
the roof. Anyone want to buy some gas futures?
