[Vision2020] The Price of Gas

Ah, yes. The seventies.

Back when Nixon's promise of "Withdrawal with Honor" in southeast Asia (a
major lie) evolved into Carter's double-digit inflation and gas rationing at
home ultimately giving birth to Reagan's "Trickle Down Economics" of the
eighties.

Ah, yes. The seventies. Thank God they are long gone, right? Thank God we
are at the beginning of the 21st century, the threshold of a new beginning.

When Bush invaded Iraq without an exit strategy (to modify an old Johnny
Cash song: How deep's the water, mama? 1,500 dead and rising).

When interest rates are rising almost at the same rate as gas prices. Those
people fortunate enough to receive a tax return will be spending it all on
their next fill up.

When Bush outsourced America's jobs. Have you noticed that most of the
operators on 1-800 lines have strong Pakistani accents?

Ah, yes. The sixties. One can only hope they return.

"Where have you gone, Joe DiMaggio. A lonely nation turns its eyes to you."

Take care, Moscow.

We could learn a lot from crayons: some are sharp, some are pretty, some are
dull, some have weird names, and all are different colors....but they all
exist very nicely in the same box.
