There is a word that one segment of Moscow's electorate, as school levy
elections approach, like to use regarding levy supporters. That word is
"shrill". In following the debate on this listserve and in the newspaper, I
have yet to see any "shrillness" from supporters or those against the
upcoming levy. Passion, for sure, but still couched in terms demonstrating
a real concern and caring for Moscow's public school system. It's been a
constructive, and instructive dialogue. Good points raised by both sides,
proving that it's quite possible to support Moscow's public schools and at
the same time have legitimate questions. No shrillness that I've heard, not
even from the "I hate public schools with a white hot burning passion, and
would not vote yes if this was a 25 dollar levy to buy some chalk" crowd.
