I don't think you can tell much by looking at only the first and last
line's of a tax return. John Kerry's 1040 is on his website and he
himself paid in the 30+% range. As for Teresa's, you need to look at
the middle of the return (e.g. donations, type of income) to make any
further questions. My guess is that she greatly benefited from the 15%
capital gains rate.

"John Kerry & Teresa Heinz-Kerry reported an income of $6.8 million, and
paid taxes of $725,000 on it (10.6%).
The average family pays approximately 20% in taxes.
Perhaps by raising the marginal tax rate on the rich, Kerry will come
close to paying the same rate that the rest of us are?"
I agree with you 100,000,000,000,000%, Mr. Courtney. John Kerry has
admitted in each of the first two debates (and publicly at many of his
speeches) that he (as well as all others earning in excess of $200,000
per year) has benefited from President Bush's tax cuts. He is in favor
of eliminating this tax cut that has resulted in an unfair tax burden
for the middle class.
Thank you for publicly posting this information.
