Pyretown by John Belluso has completed its first week of shows and is preparing for a second week of performances. The play is a moving drama about the connections that we make with one another. The story follows a 22-year old paraplegic Harry (Andrew Varenhorst) who falls in love with a middle-aged single mother Louise (Isabella Whitfield). The glaring flaws of our nation's health care system are revealed by the mother's desperate attempt to remedy her daughter's earaches. A pregnant HMO physician (Erin Palmer), who lost her job when the local hospital shut down, struggles between doing her job and doing what's right. The performers create a compelling, authentic drama, which contributes mightily to any wariness (even anger) we might be feeling about the future of profit-driven medicine in this country. The play has been very well received by audiences during the first week and given the ephemeral nature of live theatre I wanted to remind you that this play is continuing this week with performances at the Kenworthy Performing Arts Centre (508 S. Main St., Moscow, Idaho) on Wednesday, Oct 13, and Thursday, Oct 14 - both performances begin at 7:30 pm. The Oct 14 performance is a benefit to raise money to provide accessible restrooms in the Kenworthy Performing Arts Centre.
I have also included more information about the play below. I hope that you will be able to inform others of this wonderful entertainment event.
Thank you.
John
