Proof that Democrats really are smarter than Republicans? From the lates=
t issue of The Economist, May 15th - 21st, 2004. The original source of =
the data is "IQ and the Wealth of Nations," by Richard Lynn and Tatu Vanh=
anen. =20

State -- Average IQ -- 2000 Presidential vote

Connecticut -- 113 -- Gore
Massachusetts -- 111 -- Gore
New Jersey -- 111 -- Gore
New York -- 109 -- Gore
Rhode Island -- 107 -- Gore
Hawaii -- 106 -- Gore
Maryland -- 105 -- Gore
New Hampshire -- 105 -- Bush
Illinois -- 104 -- Gore
Delaware -- 103 -- Gore
Alabama -- 90 -- Bush
Louisiana -- 90 -- Bush
Montana -- 90 -- Bush
Oklahoma -- 90 -- Bush
South Dakota -- 90 -- Bush
South Carolina -- 89 -- Bush
Wyoming -- 89 -- Bush
Idaho -- 87 -- Bush
Utah -- 87 -- Bush
Mississippi -- 85 -- Bush =20

Now, a couple of things about this really bother me. The first is that m=
y home state, North Carolina, isn't listed, but I know it went for Bush i=
n a big way. The second is that Idaho is ranked 48th, just above Utah an=
d Mississippi. We've been bested by Alabama. Alabama! Oh, the company =
we keep.
