But let's not deceive ourselves.

I don't think any modern depiction in any media can be expected to show us
'just how life was then'. Art (film, books, music, etc.) will always be an
interpretation. It shows only what we THINK life was like then, or what we
wnat it to be like, or would have liked it to be like. We can never
ever, ever know what life was like any time
in the past, at least in any sense of first-person perspective,
feeling-tone, etc.
This is true no matter what the Bible says, or what Mel Gibson says.
