Visionaries,
Saundra's anti-spam plan is the one I use and it works well. I use this address for more public communication, ordering online and, lists etc and another one for private communication.

And surprise--I get spam on this one and not on the private on that I rarely give out. But I know that the first time I listed the private one somewhere I would start to get it there.

Some on here trash Yahoo mail accounts, but they're actually pretty cool. They put almost all the spam in a BULK account that can be deleted with a click. Plus they're easy to use, accessible from anywhere--you know all that.

That's because they've now found their way to my secondary email address
;-) Obviously they've got me confused because what on earth would I do with
penis enhancers?!?!? Last time I checked, I was absent that particular
piece of anatomy.

When I used the Postini/McAfee package, I thought it was pretty darn good --
the only complaint I had was that I never knew what viruses I was getting.
I had a few things slip through Postini, and a few false positives stopped
by Postini, but I really though it was one of the best things since sliced
bread. I HATE spammers & know there's a special place in h*ll reserved for
them, but I want vengeance NOW!

Actually, I can't complain much since changing my high-speed internet access
provider. I have my "real" email address, plus a secondary one that I use
when engaging in online activities that are high-risk for spammers. It's
been 6 months since the change, and I really get very little spam -- maybe
one or two a week, and I'm online (and conduct a fair amount of e-commerce)
a lot.

Wayne & All,

Postini is doing a near perfect job of catching all my spam and viruses. The
problem being that soon after the spam law was passed spam dropped to only
about 6 a day but is now it back up to about 50 a day which I still have to
delete from Postini. I considered changing my email address to stop it but
it is too important to change because of what I do. Last week I was gone 4
days and had 158 spam messages in Postini when I got back. I think the
number of spams I get now is back up to what I got before the law went into
effect. It only had a short term effect on what Spam I get.

The law is a good idea but someone needs to enforce it and the only way it
can work is to report those violating it. The past couple weeks I have been
sending all my Spam to UCE@ftc.com which is supposed to be the Federal Trade
Commission charged with "spanking" the guilty parties. (I really don't know
if it will work or not). Its a lot of work but don't know any other way to
stop it.

Some of the subjects have changed now to include "Lonely Wives" and "Hook up
with a lonely wife who is waiting" and "Horney Wives" sites are also out
there. Penis enhancers seem to be down a little and there are more "Generic
Viagra" sites. I had one the other day to get a "Preachers Degree" that I
was going to send to Wayne Fox. Said you could marry, hear confessions, and
all that good stuff.

I am not in favor of having to pay to send email. They need a program that
will send Spam back to the sender without having to do something on our end
but that probably wouldn't be practical. I occasionally get a message in
Postini that is legitimate and even an occasional Vision2020 post. Let the
Spam mailers pay $0.10 a message which is much less than snail mail.

Interested Parties,

It might be interesting to see how Vision 2020 subscribers feel about the
effects of recent federal anti-spam legislation.

How does the average number per week now compare with before the
legislation?

Has the kind or subjects of the spam changed in any way since the
legislation?

Do you agree will Bill Gates that users (all) of email should pay postage?

To those that use Postini: What is your opinion? How could it be improved?

What kind of solutions would you propose for controlling or eliminating
spam?

What other comments do you have about spam?

Wayne Fox
