The Moscow Civic Association and the Liberty Coalition invite everyone
to an evening of free entertainment, free food, and education in
Moscow’s East City Park on Wednesday, June 30, from 5pm until 10pm. With
this festival, the Moscow Civic Association is celebrating Moscow’s
parks and the Liberty Coalition is celebrating the smoking controls of
the recently-enacted Clean Indoor Air Act in Idaho.
The Liberty Coalition will provide free hot dogs, lemonade, and dessert.
In addition, vendors will offer other food, and picnicking is encouraged.
The East City Park main stage will be filled with entertainment and
educational speakers all evening. The Liberty Coalition will begin the
fun with a parade around the park, followed by speeches by Mayor
Marshall Comstock and Representative Tom Trail, and music from the Old
Time Fiddlers.
The Moscow Civic Association will then sponsor a discussion of Moscow’s
parks by city officials, including Moscow parks director Dwight Curtis
and council members, followed by questions from the audience.
The MCA will then showcase the public entries in the Arts in the Park
contest. Performers will be vying for cash prizes with music, dance, or
poetry based on a park theme. Visual artists will also be contesting
with entries of drawings, photos or paintings about parks.
The Moscow Civic Association will award cash prizes of $50, $30, and $20
for first, second, and third place winners in both categories. The art
contest and showcase entry form is available at the MCA website
(www.moscowcivic.org).
The Liberty Coalition is a Moscow-based advocacy group for clean indoor
air. Idaho’s Clean Indoor Air Act will be implemented July 1. The
Liberty Coalition is part of the Coalition for A Healthy Idaho
(www.chidaho.org).
The Moscow Civic Association is a citizen activist group with the goal
of broadening public discourse, organizing and inspiring civic
participation, and striving toward progressive and sustainable community
development. More information is available at the MCA website
(www.moscowcivic.org).
