Saundra:

I got a complete Direct TV system with everything needed at Radio Shack for about 80 bucks. I set it up myself with no help from anyone. A trained monkey can do it.

There were a few times rain and clouds dropped the signal level so far I lost the down-link. Very rare. And one pay per view movie one night went blank, why I do not know, but DTV refunded the price.

I had the dish aimed so perfect once I got a 100 on the signal meter.

Weather related dropouts can be prevented by using a 36 inch dish (I think it is) instead of the 24 inch (again, I'm guessing) they usually supply. However this bigger dish costs more and might not fit everywhere and looks more obvious, like I give a hoot anyways! You can also get heated dishes that do not ice and snow up in the winter.

Direct TV was mostly a flawless experience, though they kept raising their rates, so I said goodbye to the Video Death Ray!

I am happier without it. TV is a time waster for sure. I do not have a TV now at all.

Liberate yourself!

>YES YES AND YES!  I lost my digital cable last tuesday and have had none for going on a week now.  the repair man has come out twice (I have taken time off from work) because they told me it was a problem in my house, the first time he didnt show up and the next time he told me the part was down again. I have been getting calls from the moscow office saying things are up and going again so i hook up my digital box and still nothing.  i have waisted a lot of time on this matter.  makes for poor customer service skills when things go down for a week and in my opinion they are not working very hard to resolve the issue.
