Interrupting the anger-filled rantings of V2020 liberals for a moment, some
college football news might be a welcome break. (During football season the
mean-spirited intolerants can vent their anger by yelling and screaming at
the game, but during the off-season V2020 is their venue of choice for
venting their rabid hatred.)

Despite preparation for the Rose Bowl game with his former USC team, Nick
Holt was busy lining up as many good players as he could. The program can
only go forward from here, as pre-season 2004 predictions anticipate the U
of I's program as being dead last at number 117 (behind number 116 SMU which
was 0-12 last year). This is the 3rd year in a row that Idaho has been
tagged as the worst team in the nation at some point. Still, the news is
not all bad.

CollegeFootballNews.com reports.

117. Idaho 2003 Record: 3-9
New head coach Nick Holt, USC's former linebackers coach, might finally be
the one to bring some semblance of defense to Moscow. He'll have several new
players to deal with, as this was a veteran, senior-laden team last year.
Holt has a rising star in LB Mike Anderson to count on.
Biggest offensive loss: QB Brian Lindgren Biggest defensive loss: DT Brian
Howard

Furthermore, the Mountain West Conference added TCU to its list of future
teams. The WAC loses Tulsa, Rice, and SMU in 2005-06, creating more
openings. It's not out of the questions that the U of I may again be in the
same league as BSU.

Vandal recruiting is off to a decent start. Here's a list of recruits that
appear likely to sign with the Vandals

Pos Recruit High School Home Ht/Wt/time 40yd

RB Devon Sturdivant (Timberline HS) Boise, ID 5-11/195/4.43

CB Herb Cash (Compton) Compton, CA 6-0/175/-

DE Taylor Rust (Timberline HS) Boise, ID 6-3/220/-

There are some good players here, so Nick has done a fine job pulling
together the Vandal future. Official signing date is Feb 4, so that's when
we'll have an official list of recruits.

OK, now back to the hate-filled temper-tantrums. come on, you liberals, time
to get in screaming shape for next football season! Go Vandals!

Jack
