Dear PS Stile aka Pistol,
You of course do not miss the *target* about my contempt for Doug Wilson, but
to extend that sentiment toward all Reformed Evangelicals is a *cheap shot.*
Doug is not the model I look to when I think of Reformed folks. Sincere,
believing kirkers, not drawn into his cult of personality do not deserve to be
lumped in with him as though all Reformed folks are cut of the same cloth.
Regarding my *caustic* style, perhaps I am trying in my own sweet old lady
way to emulate your pastor's satire in the Serrated Edge. Clearly my edge is
blunt is in comparison to his. I agree that many Christians hold beliefs that I
don't. So do agnostics, Buddhists, Methodists, Roman Catholics etc. etc. etc.
And you point is what?
In fact, many Reformed Evangelicals hold beliefs quite unlike Doug's. An
example appears below. I find myself in 100% agreement with this Christian's
review of the Serrated Edge (which is taken from the Reader's Review section of
Amazon.com.)
"... In fact "A Serrated Edge" is Wilson's justification for the
mean-spirited way that he treats others. Here is the sum total of his argument: "God has
divided the world between the seed of the woman and the seed of the serpent,
and since that time ridicule has been inescapable." And from this absurd
declaration, Wilson argues that Scripture invites him to mock and ridicule believers
and non-believers alike. He even calls it a "gift" and a "movement of the
Spirit." Wilson shows his instinctive menace as well. Consider the number of times
he used the following words or variations of them: "attack," 35 times;
"offend," 20 times; "ridicule," 17 times; "insult," 14 times; and of course the
singular gratuitous uses of "dog sh*t," "cr@p," "a%%," and "ni##er." But for all
his potty mouth, Wilson never mentions the "Golden Rule," and he fails to ask
the one important question: What would the Church look like if believers
treated one another the way Wilson does? Wilson "comes out" in this book. He would
not have anyone confuse him for a wolf in sheep's clothing. He is wolf to the
bone, and these pages reveal his fangs for all to behold. "Proud and haughty,
scorner is his name." (Prov. 21:24.) If you buy this book, hide it from your
children. Hide it, that is, until the day when God visits Wilson with
calamity. And then teach them something that Wilson never learned: God is not mocked.
Amen.

Hope to see you at the SUB tomorrow Pistol. I know you aren't a straight
shooter, but you could be a Canon.
