[Vision2020] Melynda a Marxist? I'm shocked

>From the prosperous and booming Puget Sound area, which I can't wait to
leave, may I offer these observations:
It astounds me when I'm caffeinated and merely puzzles me when I'm not how
the religious right insists that government "stand up for righteousness"
when it comes to toppling Saddam, banning gay marriage, clamping down on
stem cell funding and excoriating wayward, adulterous Presidents, but
insists that government has no particular need or duty to stand for
righteousness in regard to the poor -- many of whom suffer from the current
and lingering effects of bad government policy. Sinful policy, some would
say.
And if we demand that the Nation mirror whatever view we have of the
righteousness of God in matters of the bedroom and yet insist on its right
to ignore, with God's encouragement, the more widespread damage coming from
the boardroom, it seems we run the risk of appearing more than a little out
of touch. Callous, some would say.
And, finally, if we acknowledge without shame that churches don't do enough
to alleviate the suffering of the poor, and yet reserve an enormous portion
of our outrage not toward poverty but government's attempts to intervene in
it, we can't help but seem rather cruel and atavistic. Goatlike, some would
say.
And what would Jesus say? "Whatsoever you've done to the least of my
brethren, that you've done unto me." I'm sure he would find the bleating
sound of our best libertarian arguments more than a little pathetic and our
attempts to separate individual and corporate (national) righteousness to
our benefit somewhat less than amusing.
