Donna Butterfield Benefit Street Dance Announced
A free street dance to benefit Donna Butterfield, a Moscow resident
recuperating from surgery to repair her brain aneurysm, will be held on
Sunday, August 22, from 5pm to 9pm on Main Street, between Third and
Second streets, in downtown Moscow. Donations will be collected for
appetizers, as well as beer, wine and other beverages, at the Red Door
restaurant adjacent to the street dance.
The beer and wine must be consumed inside the Red Door restaurant and
will not be allowed at the street dance.
All proceeds from the event will be deposited in the "Friends of Donna"
bank account now established at First Bank, Third and Jackson streets in
Moscow. The account will be used to pay living expenses and costs
associated with her treatment. Anyone who wishes to contribute can
write a check made to "Friends of Donna" and deposit it at the bank.
Donna Butterfield worked as a cook at the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity house
in Moscow, and does not have any medical insurance. She had brain
surgery in Seattle on March 19 and is now back in Moscow.
Two Moscow bands will play at the street dance: the Boogie Doctors and
the Acoustic Wave Machine. The Boogie Doctors is a three-piece band
that plays polkas, jazz standards, and boogie-woogie tunes. The
Acoustic Wave Machine is a seven-member band that specializes in an
eclectic and diverse combination of reggae, bluegrass, and rock.
The public is invited to attend. There will be no admission charge to
the street dance, but donations will be encouraged.
