UI LOGGER SPORTS FACILITY HOSTS 24TH UI LUMBERJACK CLASSIC
The UI's annual logger sports competition will take place from 9 a.m. to 5
p.m. Saturday, May 1, at the UI Logger Sports Facility, located at the UI
Plant Science Farm off the Troy Highway.

Axe throwing, crosscut sawing, pole climbing and power sawing are just a
sampling of the activities slated for this free, public event sponsored by
members of the UI Logger Sports Club in the forest products department.
The Lumberjack Classic features men and women demonstrating their skills
with axes, chainsaws, as well as other traditional and contemporary logging
equipment.

This year's UI team will be the largest formed in recent history with 23
students from eight different departments. The team placed third in the
regionals at Humboldt State in March and hopes to finish at the top.
