<P>I think Ted has the best perspective on this in an unbiased way. I am clearly biased. I have invested a great deal of time, energy and emotion into Clark.</P>
<P>Clark may not be perfect, but he is way better than Bush and has the best chance of beating Bush.</P></DIV>
<P>Bush will NOT serve another term. It will not happen. The electoral college will not allow it to happen. I don't know about the over all popular vote but Bush cannot get 270 electoral votes.</P>
<DIV></DIV>
<P>Bush is at 40% approval rating in states with 253 electoral votes. He is tied in two states, Florida, Oregon, and Arkansas if Clark wins the nomination, that is 259 electoral votes. Gore lost the election in 2000 because he didn't carry the military vote in Florida. If Clark wins just Florida he is in. </P>
<DIV></DIV>
<P>You have to think about this in logical terms. If Bush has 45% approval rating nationally, and a 72% approval rating in Utah, Idaho, Montana, Alabama, and Wyoming, and 62% in Texas and Georgia, what states do you think are driving him down to 45% nationally? Nope, Bush is hurting big time in the polls in California, Washington, Hawaii, Iowa, Minnesota, Michigan, Illinois, New York, Delaware, New Jersey, DC, Connecticut, Maine, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania. He is doing well in Southern States and Mountain states. </P>
<DIV></DIV>
<P>Bush's&nbsp; numbers are down because of the economy and handling of the war. They are only getting worse and Bush will be down to 40% in October of 04'. Bush is like his dad, one term. He concentrates on foreign policy and lets the American people and country go to sh*t. He is gone in January 05. I know everyone in Idaho thinks he is wonderful and is gonna win because all the other Idahoans they talk to love him. But the simple fact is there are 6 times more people in New York City alone than all of Idaho, and they would elect Saddam or Satan over Bush.</P>

<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt;Might i suggest a different viewpoint??
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; This is Clark's "coming out" party. Nobody is going to beat Dubya this
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt;go-round. Look for Wes to be Hillary's V.P. in '08. W.A.S.P. general,
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt;Arkansas good 'ol boy, classmate of Bill's in England (pretty sure, could be
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt;wrong). Nope, this "run for president" is just to introduce him to America
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt;as a political figure. Time will tell!

<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt;
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; Your points are excellent, but the bottom line for me is, despite Clark's
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; shortcomings, can he beat Bush?
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; This is one case where I will vote for the lesser of two evils. Dean's
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; chances of beating Bush are ZERO! Clark's chances are more than zero.
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt;The
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; agenda of the Bush administration is so egregious that support should be
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; given to any Democratic party candidate that does not resemble Attila the
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; Hun, Genghis Khan, Hitler, Pol Pot, Stalin, etc. even though that
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt;candidate
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; is less than ideal. And we have no viable third party to go to. Like it
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt;or
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; not, we are stuck in a political environment where the presidency is
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; controlled and limited by numerous powerful factions that offer Americans
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; only a narrow range of choice.
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt;
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; Dean will NOT become president. Clark might be able to satisfy the
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt;demands
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; of the powers that be pulling the strings, while being a large improvement
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; over the extreme dangerous agenda of the Bush administration. Clark
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt;would,
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; I think, reverse the insane economic policies of the Bush administration.
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; For more on this subject read "The Great Unraveling" by economist and
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; Princeton professor Paul Krugman for a detailed economic analysis of the
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; damage to the USA being done by the Bush administration.

<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; &gt;
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; &gt;Well, I don't mind outing myself as a Dean supporter (no surprises there,
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; &gt;eh?)--but even if Dean weren't in the race, I can't imagine going for
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; &gt;Clark.
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; &gt;
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; &gt;Remember all those Yugoslavian civilians? The medieval churches we
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt;bombed
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; &gt;during Orthodox Easter week ("to break the will of the Serbian people,"
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; &gt;according to Clark)? The faked-up massacre in the marketplace? Not for
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; &gt;me, thanks.
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; &gt;
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; &gt;Being a general is not necessarily a preparation for governing a
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; &gt;nation--think of the "perfumed princes" of Vietnam--and it worries me
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt;more
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; &gt;than a little that Clark has been courting comparisons with McArthur (as
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; &gt;opposed to, say, Eisenhower).
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; &gt;
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; &gt;Clark has yet to deliver a platform--his incredibly vague "Vision for a
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; &gt;Century" to the contrary notwithstanding. The Women for Clark website
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; &gt;features this quotation, which reminds me more than a little of Dan
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; &gt;Quayle's famous mangling of the United Negro College Fund slogan:
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; &gt;
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; &gt;"I don't believe in glass ceilings for women. At least half of us are
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; &gt;women, and think of the incredible talent that is there."
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; &gt;
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; &gt;No, Clark reminds me more and more of Gertrude Stein's dictum about
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; &gt;Oakland--"There is no there there."
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; &gt;

<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; &gt;Go, said the bird, for the leaves were full of children,
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; &gt;Hidden excitedly, containing laughter.
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; &gt;Go, go, go, said the bird: human kind

<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; &gt;Cannot bear very much reality.
