Here's how the Idaho Statesman describes the character-building challenge:
The challenges [for the UI athletic program] have been well
documented lack of resources, facilities, location and a football program
that has lost 31 of its last 40 games. The athletic department lost $165,466
in fiscal year 2002, and is struggling to comply with new Division I-A
regulations such as averaging 15,000 fans per home game.
There also is the issue of conference realignment. Idaho´s
facilities and location don´t place it high on the priority list of
established conferences.
We don´t have a strong hand to play, [UI President Gary] Michael
said.

It's going to be interesting following the replacement of Mike Bohn as AD at
the U of Idaho. One of the people being mentioned as a possible candidate
was quoted in this morning's Spokesman as saying he's had many people tell
him they think it's the worst athletic director job in the country. One
thing about being a Vandal fan, if adversity builds character, we've got
character to spare.
