Re: Mother’s Day Tea-Preview of “Esther”

In honor of Mother’s Day, Moscow Community Theatre presents a preview of
musical numbers from the upcoming production of Esther, by Myron Schreck.
Sunday May 11, 2:00 PM at the Kenworthy Performing Arts Centre. Tickets are
$5 and available at Bookpeople in Moscow, and at the door.

Esther is based on the biblical story of Esther. It is about a young orphan
who wins a royal beauty contest and becomes the Queen of Persia. No one
knows that she is Jewish, and her cousin Mordechai warns her to keep it a
secret. Meanwhile, a villainous royal advisor by the name of Haman obtains
a royal decree permitting him to kill all the Jews of Persia and take their
property. Esther must intercede with the King – at the risk of losing her
life – in order to save the Jews. The King spares her life, protects the
Jews, and puts Haman to death.

Esther opens Friday May 16 at 7:30 and runs through Saturday May 24.
Performance dates and times are May 16, 17, 23, 24 at 7:30 PM and Sunday May
18 at 2:00PM. All shows are at the Kenworthy Performing Arts Centre in
downtown Moscow. Tickets are available at the UI Ticket Office at the North
Campus Centre, and online at ticketswest.com. Prices are $11/Adult & $9
Student/Senior Citizens. More information about Esther can be found on the
Moscow Community Theatre Home page on www.kenworthy.org.
