An American soldier (never mind his faith) has been stressed beyond his
ability to withstand it. It is one of the sorrowful and sad realities of
putting good men and women in harm's way and is part of the cost of War.

Mr. Douglas certainly has the right to exercise his right of free speech and
try and make political or religious hay from this event. It does however
dimish the value, in my eyes, of anything else he might have to say on the
issue.

The ethics of this war have been debated loud and long in this forum and I
hope that debate continues as this is the hallmark of a free society.
However, making jokes at the expense of those on the sharp end of the stick,
in my opinion, shows a lack of respect for them and their sacrifices. I
would hope that in the future, all of us would take the time to consider
what we say and how it might affect those who have loved ones, friends and
family carrying out their duty as best they see fit to their country.

Mark Rounds.
