I am certainly glad that better heads prevailed concerning the British
citizens in the Spokesman Review article. I believe that serving as "human
shields" would have been the least of their worries. The word "hostages"
comes to mind.
Any other opinions?

Ahh, that subject line got ya, didn't it?
Anyway, this morning I read in the Spokesman Review about a group of
protesters from Britain, etc. who had loaded themselves into a few double
decker busses and driven off to Baghdad to volunteer to be human shields.
Unfortunately, this weekend they decided that it was just too risky and
that they _could_ be hurt or killed...so they came home.
Now this kind of symbolic effort is completely wasted on me when they are
willing to risk their lives ... until it becomes possible that they might
get hurt! Or killed!
And for some reason the Iraq govt. didn't want these group of human
shields (which is how they were referred to throughout the article)
anywhere near hospitals or schools. So I wonder if they were herding them
to Saddam's castles and vacation homes or what?
Aggravated,
Debbie
