"SPOKANE - The Spokane Joint Terrorism Task Force arrested a 33-year-old =
University of Idaho after serving four search warrants and raiding =
several residences early Wednesday morning in and around campus.=20
The task force, which is a branch of the Spokane area FBI, arrested Sami =
Omar Al-Hussayen, a Saudi Arabian man who's the president of the U of I =
Muslim Students Association, around 4 a.m. Wednesday on charges of visa =
fraud. The task force and several other agencies are conducting a search =
of the student's lab and apartment, located in the married student =
housing on the U of I campus.=20
The student is reportedly pursuing a PhD in advanced computer science =
and has 2-3 children.=20
News source told KREM TV the FBI usually does not get involved with visa =
fraud cases, and they speculated that the arrest may have something to =
do with the student's alleged involvement with collecting money from =
Muslim students - money that is allegedly being sent to terrorist =
organizations.=20
The four search warrants include a search of the student's car, his =
apartment on campus, his lab, and another man's house in Moscow. =
Authorities have not presented any further arrest warrants.=20
The U.S. Attorney for the District of Idaho, Idaho Gov. Dirk Kempthorne, =
and several officials with the FBI and INS will hold a news conference =
