This would be an excellent time for people to reread George
Orwell's "1984."

Or find the videotape or DVD of "Brazil," which is a
creative takeoff on the book. I'm unable to recommend film
versions of "1984" because they were pretty plodding.

In case there's any doubt, I believe we have a lot to worry
about. Bush said the reason the terrorists hate us is that
we have lots of freedom. Under his administration, if what
he said about why terrorists hate us is true, they already
have less reason to hate us.
