[Vision2020] Pigeon-holing

While deliberately steering clear of the public vs. private school 
discussion, I would like to expand somewhat on something Melynda Huskey 
posted a couple of days ago.  She quoted from the Public Conversations 
Project, with one quote being "Partisans develop a virtuous image of 
themselves and a demonic image of their adversaries."  Sounds rather 
applicable here.  I count myself among the offenders.  Many of us seem to 
judge another listserve poster, who we may well have never met, simply by 
their stand on this issue.  We are all more than just our belief in this 
singular topic.  At a time when our country, of which we are all citizens, 
faces crises that could make the Cuban Missile Crisis seem like a walk in 
the park, it's all rather petty.  I, for example, am a proud liberal, 
agnostic public school and 1912 building supporter.  I'm also a baseball 
fan, horror novel junkie, movie aficionado, particularly enthralled with the 
Lord of the Rings trilogy, and yes, I'm aware of Tolkien's Christiantity.  
Dale Courtney is certainly more than a libertarian private school advocate.  
Heck, we might even have similar interests that we'd enjoy discussing.  We 
all assuredly do.  No, I haven't been talking to Rodney King.  Perhaps we 
can take a collective breath, and agree to disagree.  Civilly?
