IT'S OFFICIAL: "EVERYDAY EDDIE" TO JOIN MARINERS PEN
Reliever Signs for 2004, with Options in '05 and '06

The Mariners added another weapon to their bullpen by
signing left-handed pitcher Eddie Guardado today. Guardado
agreed to terms on a contract that could carry him through
the 2006 season.

"Everyday Eddie," one of the most consistent relievers in
baseball over the past two years, had 41 saves in 45 chances
and a 2.89 ERA with the Twins last season. He was also
selected to the A.L. All-Star team for the second consecutive
year. Opposing batters hit just .207 against him, with
left-handers limited to a meager .175 mark with no home runs.
