<P>Actually, Farmers use to be pro-Democrat. However, Democrats have been turning more toward environmential protection to gain inner-city votes hurting farmers and also more socially liberal. These two factors turned Farmers away from the Democrats. Farmers were considered a main base of the Democrats up until about the 1980's. They still are in places like Iowa.</P>
