Perhaps you could contact someone in the city there, Health & Welfare,
police, Better Business Bureau, and ask them if there have been complaints
filed, etc.? Not sure if that would work, but it might be a start. You
might check on state laws and if/who/how these places are 'regulated'.
Good luck. I had a friend who worked at the Rocky Mountain Academy in
Bonners Ferry and she was not impressed. Lots of extreme behavioral
approaches, including corporal punishment, food withholding, etc. Lots of
rich people from larger cities brought their kids there, dropped them off
and then came back a year later. I only know this because I worked on the
Lookout Tower on Black Mountain and lots of the parents liked to visit
the "wilderness" and chat about their troubled children to a complete
stranger.
