I agree with you, Mr. Westberg.
A number of years ago, during a football sportscast in which John Friesz
(grew up in Coeur d'Alene) was playing, Coeur d'Alene was referred to as
"that hick town in northern Idaho".
More recently a newspaper in San Diego, prior to the San Diego State/Idaho
game, referred to UI as a bunch of country hicks.
Having been born and raised in Los Angeles, seven million people with seven
million attitudes (none of which are friendly), I decided to settle in
northern Idaho after retiring from the service. I feel that to be the best
decision I have ever made.
Take care,
Tom Hansen

I've been reading some national sport web sites, and even visited the
Tuscaloosa, Alabama newspaper to gauge reactions to Mike Price going to
Alabama. It seems the majority of the country believes that we poor Palouse
residents are completely cut off from the rest of the civilized world.
We're still waiting for electricity, rotary phone service, and face a week
long horse ride through 17 foot snow drifts to reach Seattle, the nearest
civilized outpost. And we have those pesky Indian attacks to deal with.
I'm not sure if this is a good or bad thing.
Carl Westberg Jr.
