There are many reasons for a new pay plan, but the most important reason =
is it is directly tied to the Council's strategic plan objective for the =
City's human resources. "Develop and implement a program to enhance =
employee satisfaction, recruitment, retention and performance".
In my opinion, you can't do any of those things unless salaries are =
equitable and competitive and employees are paid based on their =
performance and not on longevitity.
Further, the City has tentatively planned a meeting for the evening of =
January 15th to share information with the community regarding the =
options under consideration. This will allow City taxpayers to become =
better informed and share their opinions with the City Council prior to =
any further decisions being made.
As we firm up details of the meeting, I will let you know.
