"Faulty intelligence" is an extremely lame excuse for a president and former
CIA Director.

This excuse brings to mind another former president that refused to run for
reelection because he felt that he had failed the American people when he
trusted in the information give him by one of his generals. The president:
Lyndon Johnson. The general: William Westmoreland. The year: 1967.
Westmoreland had given Johnson faulty enemy body counts, giving Johnson the
impression that America was winning the war in Vietnam. Ho Chi Minh caught
wind of these lies and to show that North Vietnam was alive and well, he
initiated a full assault on South Vietnam in January. This became known as
Tet '68. All of this is more detailed in the book, "A Bright Shining Lie".

Another point in George Bush the First's favor (and there are very few) was
that they had been told (faulty intelligence) that the republican guard was
vanquished. The order was given to hold current positions... this allowed
the republican guard to escape to fight another day.

Oops.
