Happy New Year -

I'm pleased to announce a special guest speaker at our upcoming general
meeting, next Wednesday, January 18.

Our guest speaker is Rob Taylor, Regional Ecologist of The Nature
Conservancy's Zumwalt Prairie Preserve. The Zumwalt Prairie, located in
northeastern Oregon, is the largest remaining grassland of its type and home
to one of the highest known concentrations of nesting raptors in the U.S. as
well as a wide variety of plants, mammals, and other wildlife. The preserve,
at 27,000 acres, is the largest Conservancy acquisition in Oregon. Our
speaker will talk about the natural history of the Zumwalt Prairie and
cooperative efforts by TNC and others to manage, restore, and protect this
important ecosystem. The program is at 7:30 PM in the 1912 Building at 3rd
and Adams in Moscow and is free and open to the public.

Please forward this message on to anyone who might be interested. Contact me
if you have any questions. Hope to see you there.

Thanks!

Charles Swift - co-president, Palouse Audubon Society
