Throttle, etc.) will be strongly discouraged during the school day, and we may
contact parents of children who begin to consistently have this type of drink at

face="Times New Roman" size=3>The effect of caffeine on children's moods and
behavior has become a concern in our school and other schools throughout the
nation. <SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>In a study done by the <B
style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal"><U>National Institute of Mental
Health</U></B>, 8- to 13-year-olds who regularly consumed high doses of caffeine
were judged to be more restless by teachers, and one-third were hyperactive
enough to meet the criteria for attention deficit disorder with hyperactivity
(ADHD). </FONT></P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><o:p><FONT face="Times New Roman"
size=3> </FONT></o:p></P>

style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal"><U>Stanford</U></B> study of fifth- and
sixth-graders deprived of daily caffeine reported having symptoms including
trouble thinking clearly, not feeling energetic, and getting angry. These
symptoms were even reported by children who typically consumed 28 mg of caffeine
a day. <SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>While researching the issues
of caffeine on our student’s health, I found a website that indicates the amount
of caffeine present in selected food, drinks, and medications.<SPAN
