Dear Parents,
Wow! The weather this last couple of days has made it tough for
students to concentrate on their important work left to be done. The
next several weeks are very busy as we begin to end large projects and
start to wind up our academic year. Most MJHS students are now
registered for the 2010-11 school year and we are busily developing our
Master Schedule and course selections for next year.
The MJHS Spring Dance is this Friday evening from 6:00 p.m., until 8:00
p.m., in the MJHS Multi-Purpose Room. We are in need of parent
chaperones and if you can spare the time, we would love to have you come
and enjoy some quality time with our students. If you are able to help,
please contact Kevin Hill via phone at the main office, or send him an
email at: khill at msd281.org
As you may know by now, our ISAT session is rapidly ending. We gave a
ton of state mandated tests this last week and we are finishing up our
make-up tests for those students who were absent or didn't finish during
the regular testing session. Preliminary reports show that many of our
students made great gains. We will mail individual reports by hard copy
to all parents as soon as we receive them from the State Department of
Education in mid-June.
Our school has been involved with the "Safe Routes to School" program
this year. Multiple activities have been available for students and one
more is coming up very soon. On April 28th, we are co-sponsoring a
"Fill The Racks" event that encourages students to walk, ride, or glide
to school. Of course, we will be emphasizing safe riding tips and also
encouraging all students to wear their helmets.
This Thursday, April 22, all of our ninth grade students will be going
to Moscow High School to take part in an outstanding performance
sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts and Idaho Theatre for
Youth. This year's performance by "Shakespearance" is "Hamlet".
Students will be bused from MJHS to the MHS auditorium at 1:55 p.m. and
will return before the end of the school day. The performance begins at
2:10 p.m. and parents are invited to attend.
Just recently one of our parents came to school to let us know that some
harassing messages were directed at her child from other children on a
social networking website. A Moscow Police Department investigation is
ongoing to determine who wrote the mean words. In addition, one of our
students sent a message to those involved that simply said, "Stop This -
It Is Wrong!" The parent who brought us the messages wanted us to
compliment the student who stood up to the bullies and consequently was
able to stop a string of hurtful messages. If your child sees
inappropriate messages, please encourage them to do the right thing and
help stop the online bullies.
As always, we appreciate your involvement and support of the excellent
educational opportunities that our students receive each and every day.
In addition, my door is always open if you have questions or concerns.
Don't forget to check out the MJHS website for calendar and other
important information.
Thanks for everything and enjoy our beautiful spring days!
Sincerely,
Dale Kleinert, Principal
Moscow Junior High School
